The night started off with community leaders being introduced to the results of the connection that Webster principal Bethany Groves and Community Partnership School Director Alexius Ferguson have been working on behind the scenes for several years in order to create a true partnership with the school's core community partners Flagler Health Plus, The Children's Home Society, St. Johns River State College and the St. Johns County School District.
The Community Partnership School is a program that provides educational resources, on-site healthcare, counseling services, mentoring and more for students and families in the community, and the Community Partnership School model is based on the belief that it takes a village to raise a child, and it involves the forming of a close and long-term relationship between a school and partners - a university or college, a community-based non profit and a health care provider.
Groves introduced the Webster WE CAN nights to leaders from the West Augustine community, a twice-a-month open night at the Webster School.
The WE CAN nights is a new concept introduced by Groves in an effort to open up the school to the families and to the community. On every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, the Webster media center and computer lab will be open to the community to help with anything from resume writing to filling out the FAFSA and more. In addition, members of the community will have access to the free Webster Health Kiosk, and the school will host workshops and training in partnership with the school's partners such as St. Johns River State College and the St. Johns County School District.

The new Webster library was also unveiled to parents and community leaders, as the library received a major renovation over the summer for the first time in decades.
Webster is a school, where several generations of a family might have attended the school, and there was great excitement as the new Webster library was revealed.
Victorious Covenant Pastor Burney, Lady Wendy Burney and West Augustine's own Miss Ella Johnson provided dinner to the community leaders and school district leaders before the open house. The Victorious Covenant church worships at the Webster School, but the church also provides tutoring, bible studies and serves free breakfast to the community every first Saturday of the month.

As Webster sparkled tonight, so did the teamwork and partnership that have come together because of the framework of the Community Partnership School at Webster. Thanks to this teamwork, the partnerships from all corners of the community and the hard work of the leadership at Webster and at the Community Partnership School, along with their partners from Flagler Health Plus, the St. Johns County School District, Children's Home Society and St. Johns River State College, the Webster School is becoming a true community school once again, as it opens its doors to both Webster families and members of the community.
If you have any questions about the Health Kiosk you can contact Brigid Barrett, the Flagler Health Plus Wellness Coordinator at Webster at Brigid.Barrett@FlaglerHealth.org
